International Friendly: Super Eagles and Saudi Arabia play 2-2

The international friendly match between Super Eagles of Nigeria and Saudi Arabia on Friday ended 2-2.

The match played in Portugal saw the Saudis scoring first in the 60th through S Al-Faraj. Nigeria equalized from an own goal scored by A Alamri in the 73rd minute before Kelechi Iheanacho gave the Eagles the lead in the 81st. Saudi Arabia equaled in the stoppage time through M Kanno.

The Super Eagles' next match is against Mozambique. The friendly matches are to prepare the Super Eagles for the Afcon 2023 slated for Cote d’Ivoire in January and February 2024.

In the Afcon Draw held in Abidjan on Thursday, the Super Eagles are in Group A with host Cot d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau. Only two countries will advance automatically from the group to the round of 16.
