Gusau led NFF board sacked by Appeal Court, gets 1.5 Billion Naira from FGN

The Court of Appeal panel led by Justice Barika together with Justices Okon Abang and Justice Banjoko on Friday sacked the NFF Executive Committee led by Ibrahim Gisau by setting aside and striking out all dubious orders obtained by deceit on September 29, 2022, to conduct the purported NFF illegal election of September 30 in Benin City.

This happened Friday afternoon in Abuja at 12:30 pm

The court struck out all processes concerning the NFF appeal No CA/ABJ/CV/1006/2022 and further ordered that the processes be deleted from all systems of the court forthwith.

Parties in the matter were represented by the following counsels-NFF by Okutepa SAN represented by Peace Omiri and one Arnold from his chambers, while PFAN Task Force was represented by Celsus Ukpong, Rumson Baribote, and Mary Waribo.

In light of this, any person who parades himself as an NFF Board Member after the ongoing 2023 Afcon in Cote d’Ivoire risks criminal contempt proceedings.

Ironically, the NFF sacked board that once boasted were financially independent of the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN), has received a bigger total budget allocation of 1.5 Billion Naira for 2024, according to insideglasshouse.com.

This is outside the recent intervention vote of 12 Billion Naira to pay off outstanding bonuses and allowances of the Super Eagles and other national teams.

The budget is also an improvement of the 1.1 Billion Naira they received last year from the FGN.

A breakdown of this total allocation shows that 127,532,115 Naira will cover capital expenditure, 220,488,641 Naira is for personnel, while overhead will gulp 1,205,870,033 Naira.

The overhead is 800 Million Naira for sporting activities.

The total allocation is 1,553.890,789 Naira.

Supervising the ministry of the NFF, the Sports Ministry has got approval of 28 Billion Naira for its budget in 2024.
