Former Black Stars midfielder Laryea Kingston says Nigeria are favourites but expects Ghana to sail through in this month's 2022 FIFA World Cup play-offs tie.

The 41-year-old predicts Ghana, playing under new coach Otto Addo, might struggle to outclass the Super Eagles.

Kingston said on TV3's Final Push: "Ghana-Nigeria games are very tough. Looking at the squad, Ghana will struggle especially because of the total change of the technical team.

"Such games, form doesn't matter. It will be tough but I strongly believe we will beat Nigeria."

But former Ghana winger Yaw Preko believes the Black Stars are desirous to punch above against Nigeria in the 2022 FIFA World Cup playoffs to placate fans.

Preko argues that the ignominious elimination of the team at the Group stage of this year's   Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon will serve as an intrinsic motivation to beat the Super Eagles.

The former Ifeanyi Ubah trainer expects a different Black Stars from what we saw under Milovan Rajevac at the tournament.

"The players just can't wait especially the new ones and those who couldn't perform at the AFCON. I have been there and know what I'm talking about," the former Anderlecht star said on TV's Final Push programme.

"Nigeria will find this tougher than what happened in the AFCON. They know what we are capable of doing to them in Kumasi."
