First semi-final of Onitsha Unity Cup holds on Friday

Galaxy Football Club on Thursday evening defeated Global Fc 4-3 on a penalty shootout, after the game ended goalless, to join three other teams that have qualified for the semi-final of the Onitsha Unity.
The semi-final which starts Friday will see Mourinho Football Club playing against Ozalla Football Club at Godwin Achebe Stadium, Onitsha, while the second semifinal earlier scheduled for Sunday between, Peace Football Club and Galaxy Football Club will take place next week Thursday, December 15th at the same venue
.
Onitsha Unity Cup, a grassroot competition, is the initiative of some retired Nigerian footballers in the diaspora who started their football career in the commercial city.
The competition is their own way of giving back to the city that gave their football career the oxygen it needed at the budding stage.
The final of the competition is slated for January 8, 2023.
