Federer can still win major titles says, David Ferrer 

2013 French Open finalist David Ferrer says Roger Federer winning a Grand Slam will be extremely difficult but adds he won't rule out the possibility of seeing the Swiss win a Major again. 

Federer, 40, underwent two knee surgeries in 2020.

Last year, Federer made his return and played just five tournaments before he underwent a third knee surgery last August. Federer, who will be turning 41 in August, hasn't played since last year's Wimbledon. 

"I'm not saying that Roger can't be close to winning a Grand Slam, but it's been two years without competing, he's not going to go top-seeded and he'll have to play with high-ranking players and that wears you down physically," Ferrer told La Vanguardia, per Sportskeeda.

Last week, Federer gave a positive update on his recovery as he posted a gym workout picture and captioned it: "Rehab is rocking." Andy Roddick, a former world No. 1 who battled Federer in the Wimbledon finals, said he is confident the Swiss will return this year.

Federer, a 20-time Grand Slam champion, releases an annual report every year. In his most recent annual report, Federer said his journey as an elite athlete isn't over yet. "After many months of battling injury, my return to the tour in March, after my first operation, highlighted and energized me to continue my tennis career.

I'm grateful for every minute I was able to spend with my fans and tennis family on the court. My experience in Doha illustrated to me that my journey as an elite athlete isn't over yet. 

The progress I make every day strengthens my belief that I will be healthy and strong enough to return to the tennis court at the highest level," Federer wrote in his annual report. 

Federer is set to miss the whole clay season and he will likely sit out the entire grass season as well.
