EPL: Awoniyi equal Adebayor, Salah record, scores in seven consecutive games

Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi on Saturday equaled the record for consecutive goals scored in the English Premier League by an African, the record is seven goals.

In Forest 3-2 lost at Old Trafford to Manchester United, Awoniyi scored the first goal of the match to equal the record of Emmanuel Adebayor and Mohammed Salah.

Awoniyi scored in Nottingham Forest’s 2-1 victory against Sheffield United last Friday night.

The Super Eagles forward nodded home Sergier Aurier’s cross in the fourth minute of the thrilling contest.

The former Union Berlin forward was also on target in Forest’s 2-1 defeat to Arsenal.

He scored four consecutive goals in the last four matches of the 2022/23 season. Awoniyi continued from where he stopped last season by scoring in the first three matches of the 2023/24 season.

Awoniyi is now the first Nigerian to score in seven consecutive Premier League games.

The striker is now the third African player to score in seven consecutive games.
