Bendel Insurance's victory must inspire Enyimba Remo in Sunday’s Champions League matches

 The Bendel Insurance victory against ASO Chelf in faraway Algeria on Saturday in the CAF Confederation Cup must inspire Enyimba International Football of Aba and Remo Stars of Ikenne as they aim to overturn first legs defeats by their Libyan and Ghanaian opponents on Sunday.

Against all odds, Insurance who was written by many football buffs beat their opponent via penalty to earn a place in the next round of the Confederation Cup.

Aware of the gigantic task they have on Sunday, Enyimba captain, Olorunleke Ojo has called on fans to come out en masse to support the club in the CAF Champions League return leg against Al Ahli Benghazi.

The encounter is billed to take place at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba on Sunday.

Ojo opined that the fans’ support will be crucial for the People’s Elephant in achieving victory in the game.

“All we need is support, togetherness, and unity,” he stated.

The Tarkwa side goes into the game with a 1-0 advantage having recorded a slim at the Cape Coast stadium on Sunday, August 20, 2023.

The team trained at Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne on Saturday ahead of the game against Remo Stars on Sunday.

Medeama need at least a draw to progress to the second round of the competition while Remo Stars must beat their opponent 2-0 before they can progress to the next round where they will face Guinea’s Horoya FC. Jonathan Sowah netted the winner in the first leg last week.

Meanwhile, players, officials, and fans of Insurance are still celebrating after the team win in Algeria.

Insurance on Saturday defeated ASO Chlef FC of Algeria 4-3 via penalty shootout to advance to the next stage of the 2023/2024 CAF Confederation Cup.

ASO Chlef on August 19 lost the first leg of the encounter against Insurance by 0-1 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.

The Algerian side, however, won the return leg, played at Mabrouki Salem stadium in Algeria by the same margin to end the game on 1-1 aggregate.

The hosts scored the only goal of the match after 41 minutes to force the game into penalties.

Bendel Insurance, the Nigerian side, went ahead to win the penalties 4-3 to progress to the second preliminary stage of the continental soccer competition.
