Chelsea wants to lower Osimhen’s price by offering Lukaku and another player; Eagles star may set record against Udinese on Monday

Chelsea move for Napoli talisman Victor Osimhen to boost their attack for the 2024/25 season.

The Blues are desperate to land the Nigerian hotshot and they could offer a package of £77 million (€90m/$96m) and two players, one of them a youngster. The other is rumoured to be Romelu Lukaku, who is currently on loan at Serie A side Roma.

Sky Sport Italia claims that Chelsea will try to offer Romelu Lukaku plus €90m and a young player to get Victor Osimhen from Napoli.

The Nigeria international will leave at the end of the season, as was agreed with the club when negotiating his new contract last year, and there is a release clause believed to be worth €120m.

Paris Saint-Germain has been the hot favourites so far, expecting to use Osimhen as a replacement for Real Madrid-bound Kylian Mbappé, while Arsenal are also another interested party.

However, Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio revealed that Chelsea have approached Napoli to ask about Osimhen as well.

The intriguing part of this is that they hope to lower the cost by including Lukaku as part of the deal.

This could be more intriguing than many might think, as Napoli’s new director of sport is going to be Giovanni Manna, who already tried to bring Lukaku to Juventus last summer.

Lukaku has made it clear he does not want to remain at Chelsea and would prefer to stay in Italy, as after his loan at Inter, he spent this season with Roma.

Meanwhile, Osimhen could become the third Napoli striker to score against a Serie A side in five consecutive meetings when his side plays Udinese on Monday.

Osimhen has registered 14 goals and three assists in 22 Serie A appearances. The Nigerian attacker has struggled with injuries this season, but he has always delivered the goods for the Partenopeans whenever he has been in action.

Napoli take on Udinese at the Bluenergy Stadium on Monday, and Osimhen will be expected to lead the line for them.

Ordinarily, it would be easy to call it a straight win for Napoli as they face a Udinese team that is battling relegation. However, because of their poor form this season, it is expected to be a tough one.

Nigeria striker Osimhen will be looking to add to his tally on Monday, and he could break a new record. According to Napoli Magazine, Osimhen will become the third player in Napoli’s history to score against a single Serie A side in five consecutive games. Also, he will become the first Nigerian striker to score against a Serie A side in five consecutive meetings.

This would be a significant push for Osimhen, and his other teammates will look to make that happen.
