CHAN 2023 Qualifiers: Ghana stops Nigeria again in dramatic clash
The Super Eagles B team needed to recover from a 2-0 deficit in the first leg and they did that part of the job
Even though it was tougher than they anticipated Ghana have qualified ahead of Nigeria for next year's African Nations Championship billed for Algeria.
This is the second time this year that Ghana has prevented Nigeria from qualifying for a major football tournament as it was De Javu once more at the MKO Abiola Stadium.
Nigeria's Super Eagles B needed to recover from a 2-0 deficit in the first leg last weekend in Cape Coast.
While many thought it was a mountain too high to climb, the Naija Boys did well to give themselves a lifeline.
After huffing and puffing for the larger part of the the game, the Super Eagles B team scored twice in the final 15 minutes of the second half
Zulkilfulhammad in the 76th minute, and the equaliser came through Chijoke Akuneto in added time.
The game went straight to penalties, and while Ghana scored all five, Maurice Ugochukwu's missed kick meant it was the Black Galaxies and not the Super Eagles B team that would be in Algeria next year.
