Tuchel, Conte see red as Tottenham hold Chelsea in tense London Derby

Antonio Conte and Thomas Tuchel have clashed on the touchline after the Tottenham boss celebrated in the face of his counterpart – before both men were sent-off after a confrontation at full-time.

Conte is back at his former home, having led Chelsea for two seasons, but with his loyalties firmly with the north Londoners.

A trip to Stamford Bridge is an early test of Tottenham’s credentials after an impressive summer of recruitment which has seen them tipped to usurp their rivals.

Chelsea took the lead in the first-half through Kalidou Koulibaly and have largely dominated in west London.

Tottenham, despite being second best, have remained in the contest and were able to equalise through Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, who slotted home from 20 yards.

Conte, a manager renowned for his animated celebrations, turned towards the Chelsea bench as he celebrated. Tuchel meanwhile was wandering towards the opposition brace and the pair ended up face-to-face with the Italian reeling in front of his colleague.

The situation may have been a case of wrong place, wrong time with Conte celebrating as Tuchel headed to the fourth official to vent his anger as he felt there was a foul in the build-up to the equaliser. It led to a scuffle involving both coaching staffs.

Tuchel and Conte were both booked as a result, but the Tottenham leveller didn’t last long. Reece James, who has been a star performer, was able to put the Blues back in front after being found by Raheem Sterling. The full-back hammering the ball past Hugo Lloris, which resulted in Chelsea’s manager running down the touchline to celebrate.
