Brazil still waiting on Ancelotti: “He is our plan A”
The president of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues, confirmed to 'BeIn Sports' that Carlo Ancelotti is the top choice for the job.
Brazilian football longs for Carlo Ancelotti in such a way that the federation (CBF) will extend the waiting period established since Tite left the bench after the painful elimination against Croatia in the World Cup in Qatar.
In the CBF everyone is on the same page: Ancelotti is plan A and the rest of the candidates are miles behind him.
This was confirmed to ‘BeIn Sports’ by Ednaldo Rodrigues, president of the organisation, who publicly certified for the first time that the Italian is the top choice; the CBF have even stopped any negotiations with the possible alternatives that exist.
Ancelotti has had two successful spells at Real Madrid.
“He doesn’t have any kind of proposal, but we followed him up and also checked if he had any kind of desire. I have him as a plan A. I’m talking for the first time in a very open way and it doesn’t make sense to hide my preference”, pointed out Rodrigues, who clarified that there is no firm proposal that has been made to the Italian. The contact between the people of Carletto, Florentino Pérez and the CBF are taking place very slowly.
“I try to be very ethical. I cannot approach any coach who has a contract with a club. We have tried to be patient and wait for the right moment to have a conversation, a meeting. And this also involves those who preside over the club and have a direct contract. From the moment we receive the signal that it is also his will, we will begin to speak, prepared for what can be a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’. From there we will have a plan B”, he stressed. The formal negotiations will begin, as long as Carlo gives the ‘OK’, when Madrid finish in the competitions they are currently playing in.”
“We are not discrediting any coach from our country. On the contrary, we have coaches from Brazilian competitions”, he stressed when asked about the controversy and debate that has arisen in the country regarding the arrival of a foreign coach. The Italian, Rodrigues explained, is liked for more than his sports resume.
“We have arrived at Ancelotti’s name because of his achievements, for being a dignified person. We have looked to see that he is a good person. We have followed his work not only as a coach, but also as an athlete for the Italian national team. For everything that the athletes who work or worked with him say about him, about being a totally open, cultured person, who values and loves Brazilian athletes, Brazilian football. He is a coach who is totally in tune with our athletes, he concluded.
