Beautiful bride Osimhen claims Napoli President hold the key to his future

Man of the moment Victor Osimhen insists ‘anything is possible’ including Napoli winning the Champions League, but when asked if he will remain next season, he left it open. ‘I don’t mind, the President decides and I go with the flow.’

The Nigeria international converted a penalty in this evening’s 2-0 win over Sampdoria, confirming his Capocannoniere status with 26 Serie A goals for the season.

Having already been named Serie A Striker of the Season, he was handed another piece of silverware, awaiting the Serie A trophy.

“I’m happy for this award. It’s amazing feeling for me, I won the Scudetto, which is the most important thing in my career so far. I am grateful to God for this season, for my teammates, my family, for the Neapolitans and they deserve all of this,” Osimhen told DAZN as he was handed the Capocannoniere trophy.

Nobody had been able to combine the Capocannoniere crown with the Scudetto since Zlatan Ibrahimovic for Inter in 2009, while Osimhen is also the first African to be top scorer in the Italian top flight.

“This season has been brilliant for me, my teammates and the Neapolitans. I think I’ve done so well this season and deserve every good thing I’ve got, but I feel motivated to do even more next season.

“Everything is possible. Just like when we started the season, lots of people didn’t believe in Napoli. If the President says we can win it, I believe it, everything is possible.”

This is the final match for Luciano Spalletti, who already announced he is leaving the club after securing their first Scudetto in 33 years.

“A great coach, a great man, he deserves this. He’s been phenomenon, he is the architect of a great season, his staff too have done so well. I wish him all the very best in life and hope he enjoys the time with his family. He deserves all this, coach of the year.”

When asked if he had learned any Neapolitan, Osimhen only knew one word for ‘hang on’ that he learned from coffee and kit man Tommy Starace, who has been at the club since before Diego Armando Maradona’s day.

“Tommaso is like a father to all of us, we all love him. He makes the best coffee in the world, he’s an amazing man. I tried the Osimhen cake with my friends, I love it and thanks to the person that made it.

“I appreciate the Neapolitans a lot, they deserve this and hopefully we’ll have many more trophies to come.”

Osimhen was asked outright if he will be at Napoli next season and he left it open-ended, aware the offers that come in could be too hard to turn down.

“I don’t know, the President has to decide that. I love the people of Napoli, they have shown me so much love. For me, I don’t mind, the President decides and I will just go with the flow.”
