Nigeria's reigning basketball champions, Rivers Hoopers, are gearing up for another shot at the Basketball Africa League (BAL) after being drawn into the Sahara Conference for the 2024 season.

The KingsMen, as they are nicknamed, will face off against Armee Patriotique Rwandaise Basketball (APR) from Rwanda, US Monastir from Tunisia, and last season's finalist, AS Douanes from Senegal.

The Sahara Conference games will be held in Dakar, Senegal, from May 4th to 12th.

This year's BAL features a new format with three conferences of four teams each. Each team will play a round-robin format within their conference, battling it out for a spot in the playoffs. The top two teams from each conference, along with the two best third-placed teams across all conferences, will advance to Kigali, Rwanda, for the final stages.

The playoffs will be a single-elimination tournament, culminating in the championship game on June 1st at the BK Arena in Kigali. This marks the second BAL appearance for the Hoopers, who participated in the inaugural season held in Rwanda three years ago.
