Athletes from five countries to participate in Amusan/Onakoya Athletics Meet

Athletes including Nigeria have registered to participate in the median edition of the Amusan/Onakoya Athletics Meet slated for Ijebu-Ode International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode on Thursday, February 24, 2022.

Olawale Olatunji disclosed to media men that, “as it stands we have athletes from the Benin Republic, Togo, Senegal, Mali and host nation Nigeria that have registered for the open events. Athletes from across Nigeria both from states and military and paramilitary formations and clubs. “

Olatunji disclosed that because it is the median will be open by Wednesday evening. 

“I believe athletes in Nigeria have enough time to register for the event but entries from our West African neighbours will still be accepted by Wednesday evening”.

He also disclosed that most of the schools in Ijebu-Land have shown interest in the meet with a seminar on Thursday then other activities will follow.

Said Olatunji, “this is just the first edition and the number of countries, states, clubs and schools that have registered to participate is really encouraging hopefully we intend to spread to all the nook and crannies of Ogun State very soon. Going forward, we intend to work with the State agencies and corporate organizations so that all the talents in Ogun State will have the opportunity to be discovered, natured and compete with the best in the world”.

He thanked the officials of the Ogun State Ministry of Sports and Education for their cooperation and assistance.
