Arteta branded inexperience for leaving injured Martinelli on the field after scoring six goals against Sheffield

Brazilian winger Gabriel Martinelli was forced off for Arsenal with a worrying-looking injury during their clash against Sheffield United.

The Brazilian forward had starred in the game as he contributed a goal and an assist to Arsenal's storming 6-0 win.

Martinelli, 22, was helped off the pitch after sustaining an injury.

He appeared unable to put any weight on his right foot and looked to be wincing in pain as he went straight down the tunnel.

Gabriel Jesus was sent on by Arteta as concern over his compatriot was raised.

Arsenal fans were left seething on social media as they slammed Arteta for not taking him off earlier.

One fan posted: "Why wasn't Trossard on for Martinelli at half-time? Now Martinelli is injured."

A second commented: "Martinelli limping. It’s over for me."

A third wrote: "Why is Arteta behaving like a novice 6-0 and you still have your best players playing now Martinelli injured this what the same thing that happened when Saliba got injured and ruined everything."

A fourth said: "Sad to see Martinelli injured
