With new deal Saka is Arsenal highest earner

“I think I have everything I need to become the best player I can be, and that’s why I’m happy to stay here and be here for the future, because I really believe that we can achieve big things.”

With new deal Saka is Arsenal highest earner

Arsenal confirmed Bukayo Saka has signed a new deal - making him the highest earner at the club.

The forward's current contract was due to expire next summer, but Saka has been tied down for another three years.

It ends any speculation over the boyhood Gooners future, leaving fans wildly - and emotionally - celebrating the news.

One said: "Tears in my eyes."

Another added: "One of our own."

One agreed: "Huge news!! The future is bright."

Saka, 21, was a huge part of Arsenal's Premier League title push, which ultimately ended in Manchester City retaining the silverware.

He scored 13 goals in his 37 league appearances, with a further 11 assists and became an integral part of Mikel Arteta's side.

Talks to extend his contract had been ongoing throughout the campaign, leaving Saka over the moon following the completion of the deal.

As revealed by SunSport, Saka is now Arsenal’s top earner with wages worth up to £300,000-a-week.

He said: “I’m just really happy. There’s been a lot of talking and it’s been a while, but I’m here now.

"I think this is the right club, the right place to make the next step. It’s a beautiful club - look where we are.

“For me, it’s about achieving my personal ambitions; how much I push myself and demand from myself each game, week in, week out.

"Then I have all the right people around me in terms of family, and when I come to the training ground, my teammates, the coaching staff.

“I think I have everything I need to become the best player I can be, and that’s why I’m happy to stay here and be here for the future, because I really believe that we can achieve big things.”

The club have been on a drive to secure players on long-term deals, including the defender Gabriel and goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, both 25, and Martinelli, the 21-year-old winger who doubled his wages to £180,000 a week.

Arsenal are planning talks with Odegaard, their 24-year-old captain, but the club’s more pressing concern is in tying down William Saliba as he approaches the final year of his deal. The French centre back, 22, has been out injured since mid-March, his absence coinciding with a dip in form for Arteta’s team.

Saliba, who had spent three seasons away from Arsenal on loan spells since joining in 2019, has enjoyed a hugely successful breakthrough campaign. The defender has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain, but Arteta has said he is optimistic a deal can be struck with Saliba.
