Venus was never envious of Serena

Coach Rick Macci played a crucial role in the development of the former world No. 1 sisters and multi-Grand Slam champions. After Richard Williams reached out to Macci, the American coach welcomed the talented sisters into his academy.

According to Macci, the seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams was never envious of her sister Serena, even though Serena achieved more success with 23 Grand Slam titles:

"Was asked if Venus Williams was ever jealous of Serena Williams because the younger Compton Comet became better. Easiest question about the Goat family to answer. NEVER EVER. Two Peas in a Pod like the world has NEVER EVER SAW and the inspiring story that says it ALL," Macci wrote on X.

A close bond was always evident between the sisters, who, together, clinched 14 Grand Slam titles as a doubles pair and secured Olympic gold in Sydney 2000, Beijing 2008, and London 2012.

Venus, at 43, continues to compete on the WTA Tour, while her sister Serena retired in 2022 at the age of 40. Serena has since shifted her focus to investments and entrepreneurship, alongside ongoing projects in the realms of fashion, sports, and more.

In the Cincinnati Open last August, Venus celebrated her most significant victory since 2019, defeating the world No. 16 Veronika Kudermetova. Following her triumph, ‘Queen V’ revealed that one of the first messages she received was, indeed, from her younger sister Serena.

“She texted me after. She had a lot of encouraging words to say. She just is encouraging me to, you know, just to rise to be my best, because she believes in me and she knows what I have inside of me. It's nice to have her because she knows and she knows what position I'm in and what it's like to be in this position,” 5-times Wimbledon champion said,”

“She knows what it's like to have something to give, but, like, you just need that opportunity. So, it's nice that she believes in me,” Venus revealed after her Cincinnati win,” Venus Willams added.
