Udogie was racially abused in England after Tottenham defeated Liverpool. 2-1

Tottenham Hotspur have said they are disgusted by the racist abuse on social media aimed at Destiny Udogie following their win over Liverpool on Saturday.

Spurs defeated the Reds in a highly controversial game, where the decision to wrongly disallow Luis Diaz's goal thanks to a VAR blunder was at the centre of the drama.

Both Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones saw red for Liverpool in a game that Tottenham went on to win thanks to a 96th-minute goal from Joel Matip.

After the match Udogie posted an image on Instagram celebrating the win, unfortunately, the full-back was then the subject of numerous cases of racial abuse in the comments, which have then been seen going around social media.

Following the comments, Tottenham released a statement in support of their player and condemning the posts aimed at Udogie.

It read: 'We are disgusted at the racist messages directed towards Destiny Udogie on social media following Saturday’s game against Liverpool.

We will work with the Premier League and, where possible, take action against any individual we are able to identify. We stand with you, Destiny.'

Udogie was also involved in another of the game's talking points when Diogo Jota was shown a yellow card for a foul on the Italian, despite there

being minimal contact with the player, and seemingly no intention to foul him.

Minutes later Jota then dived in on Udogie to receive a second yellow card, followed by a red, resulting in Liverpool being down to nine men for the remainder of the match.
