Tyson Fury is banking on his father to beat Usyk

Loquacious world champion Tyson Fury has revealed his "secret weapon" for the rescheduled undisputed fight against Oleksandr Usyk - his father.

The WBC heavyweight champion was originally set to face Usyk in February but had to withdraw two weeks prior due to a cut sustained in sparring. The much-anticipated bout, which will determine the first-ever four-belt heavyweight champion, is now slated for May 18 in Saudi Arabia.

After initially basing himself in the Middle East until his injury, Fury opted to remain in Morecambe for the rescheduled date, bringing his outspoken father John into his training team. It will be the first time Fury has fought since his victory over former UFC champion Francis Ngannou in October.

"I'm training hard obviously," Fury stated at a pre-fight press conference, as reported by the Mirror. "I'm in fantastic shape, obviously, and I've got a massive fight coming up. There's no room for error, I've just got to get through it and I'm feeling fantastic with 40 days to go. I have no complaints, I'm working very hard.

"I've got my dad in camp this time, I've got my secret weapon. All the boys and girls are in camp; I've got the full circus in camp."

Fury faced criticism for pulling out of the February fight, with Usyk's team suggesting he should retire. However, the Brit views the delay as a blessing in disguise, reports the Mirror. The 35-year-old believes he will prove to be a level above former undisputed cruiserweight champion Usyk, who holds two wins over Anthony Joshua.

"I was depressed for the first day or so but then I realised God's timing is perfect. It wasn't my time then but it will be my time on May 18. I'm the best; I'm just defending my best against him," Fury said.
