Feelers from Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) secretariats revealed that the Super Eagles' shocking exit from the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations has thrown the future of interim coach, Austin Eguavoen and some of his backroom staff in doubt.
234sportsng.com exclusively gathered in Garoua that the Amaju Pinnick-led board is considering a massive overhauling of the entire backroom staff of the Super Eagles.
234sportsng.com decent source revealed a few hours before the team's departure on Monday night that most of the current coaching crew may not be retained to work with the incoming foreign manager, Jose Paseiro.
This may not be unconnected with the crew's disappointing performance at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations where Nigeria failed to advance beyond the second round of the competition following their shocking 1-0 loss to Tunisia on Sunday.
" I can confidently tell you that the board is already considering massive overhauling of Super Eagles coaching crew after a disappointing exit from the competition to give the incoming coach a free hand to operate," a decent source told
234sportsng.com.
Although interim coach Austin Eguavoen disclosed that he would be returning to his role as NFF technical director, the future of other members of the crew will be finalized in the coming days.
At this juncture, the usual lobbying is expected to get into full swing as members of the crew battle to retain their place on NFF payroll.
