Real Madrid fans and supporters want the club to buy Super Eagles and Villarreal winger  Samuel Chukwueze, they also want the club to retain the service midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.

Real Madrid’s squad depth was an issue for the club last season and that remains the case till now. Their options going forward have been hurt particularly, after Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard, Mariano Diaz and Marco Asensio, all left at the end of the previous campaign. Los Blancos need to bring in replacements.

A lot has been made about their lack of options at striker. But the situation is pretty similar when it comes to the wings as well.

Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo are the only two natural wingers at the club right now. Fede Valverde and summer arrival, Arda Guler, can play there as well although they are better elsewhere on the pitch.

Thus, Real Madrid could certainly do with more options on the wings. And one player that they should definitely be keeping their eyes on is Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze.

Real Madrid should be very familiar with Chukwueze’s qualities by now. He put in a glittering performance against Los Blancos at Santiago Bernabeu last season, scoring a superb brace as Villarreal walked out with a 3-2 win.

There were some rumours linking Real Madrid with a move for Chukwueze after that match-winning performance. Those links have gone quiet since then though.

Chukwueze is someone who would definitely be a solid signing for Real Madrid though, as the Nigerian international is coming off of the best season of his career. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 13 goals and provided 11 assists in 50 appearances in the 2022/23 campaign.

Also, Chukwueze’s current deal with Villarreal is set to run out in the summer of 2024. That means that his leaving the club in this window is very likely. It is believed that Yellow Submarine would be looking for a transfer fee of around €30 million to part ways with the Nigerian international. He was linked with AC Milan as well but those rumours have led nowhere.

The supporters also want the club to keep Tchouameni who was signed from Ligue 1 side, AS Monaco. for a transfer fee believed to be around €100 million including add-ons. That is one of the highest in Los Blancos history and as a result, there were high expectations surrounding the Frenchman.

Those were further magnified when Real Madrid legend, Casemiro, left in order to join Manchester United. As a result, Tchouameni was placed as a starter for the club much quicker than anybody would have anticipated.

Tchouameni made a bright start to life at Real Madrid as well and put in some superb performances. But as the season progressed, his form started to dip, especially after the World Cup.

By the end of the campaign, Tchouameni had lost his status as a nailed-on starter and found himself on the bench, whenever a big game came around. Unsurprisingly, that has raised questions about Tchouameni’s future at Real Madrid and some of the biggest clubs around Europe have been linked with him.

Clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and a few others have been linked with Tchouameni. But it looks like the player himself intends to stay put at Real Madrid.

The Frenchman liked a tweet from the Real Madrid account which shared an update from Fabrizio Romano about Tchouameni not being available for transfer.

Tchouameni staying on at Real Madrid might be best for the club as well as the player. There have been rumours that Carlo Ancelotti could use a 4-4-2 formation next season, opening up another spot in midfield. If it happened, that would increase the Frenchman’s chances of getting minutes.

Tchouameni deserves another chance to show what he is truly capable of. Last season was his first one playing for a team outside of France and that too for Real Madrid, where the expectation is to win every game.
