Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is 'desperate' to sell World Cup winner Emiliano Martinez, according to stunning reports.

Martinez starred as Argentina won the World Cup, beating France in a penalty shootout in the final.

After keeping three clean sheets in Qatar, he was handed the Golden Glove award and celebrated in hilariously-lewd style during the presentation.

However, despite his performances on the international scene, his club manager, Emery, does not want him at Aston Villa.

That's according to Fichajes who claim the Spaniard does not want to work with the 30-year-old and is keen for his sale ahead of the January transfer window.

Emery is believed to be unimpressed with his temperament and wants him out of Villa Park.

Sevilla’s Yassine Bounou, who also starred at the World Cup, has been touted as a potential replacement.

He staged a 'moment's of silence' in the dressing room following his national team's victory over France and continued to mock the 24-year-old during the trophy parade in Buenos Aires. He was spotted carrying a doll with the player's face on it.

Emery, who was appointed Villa boss in October following the sacking of Steven Gerrard, said he'll speak with the Argentinean stopper next week about his antics.

"When you have big emotion, sometimes it is difficult to control it," he said in his pre-match press conference.

"I will speak to him next week about some celebrations but I respect that he is now under the national team and when he will be with us, he is our responsibility then we can speak about it.

"We are so proud of him. He won the World Cup with his national team and it's amazing."

Martinez has yet to return to Villa and will not be available for their Premier League clash against Liverpool on Boxing Day.

"He's coming back next week," Emery added.

"I want him to rest now because after big emotion and hard work, he has to have some days off to rest then he'll come back to work with us."
