There is tension in the air after Super Eagles striker, Sadiq Umar was reported to have undergone treatment for an undisclosed ailment, which ruled him out of club training on Tuesday and Wednesday, Diario de Almería can report.
Sadiq is expected to lead Nigeria's attack in the upcoming Qatar 2022 World Cup playoffs against Ghana Black Stars on March 25th and 29 respectively, but he is now a major doubt for the encounter.
Diario de Almería reported that the former Glasgow Rangers striker had shown up at the club training grounds on Tuesday only to be excused by coach Rubi to undergo treatment for an undisclosed ailment.
The towering striker has become one of the shining lights for the Andalusia side since returning from AFCON and has taken his goal tally to 15 this season after he grabbed a brace on Saturday.
But his recent ailment will be a major worry for coach Austin Eguavoen who is banking on the striker to shoot down Ghana in the playoffs.
Although, Almeria has continued to play down the report saying that Sadiq had minor knocks in last Saturday's Segunda fixtures.
Coach Eguavoen will be monitoring events from Spain and will be putting calls through to the striker to ascertain his level of fitness ahead of next week's trip to Kumasi.
