Qatar 2022: Ronaldo, Rivaldo disagree on foreign coach Brazil

The topic of who will lead Brazil after the 2022 World Cup is a hotly debated one at the moment. While players such as Ronaldo Nazario welcome the possibility of a foreign coach taking charge of the Selecao, others such as Rivaldo remain against the idea.

The former Barcelona and AC Milan player took to social media to voice his displeasure at the idea and offered a list of alternatives that would be better suited to lead the Brazilian national team.

"I do not agree and I think it is disrespectful to Brazilian coaches to consider hiring a foreign coach for our team," Rivaldo stated in his post.

"I think we have coaches capable of taking charge of the Brazilian team at the moment and do a good job, like: Rogerio Ceni, Fernando Diniz, Cuca, Renato Gaucho and Dorival Jr."

Hiring a foreign coach no guarantee of success

The former Brazil international also stated that the hiring of a foreign coach would not guarantee any future successes, despite many being qualified to lead the national team.

"Bringing in a foreign coach doesn't mean we're going to be world champions," Rivaldo continued.

"Especially since, if it were a certainty, I think a foreign coach would like to be champion of the world for his country and to make his nation happy. His team needs him more than Brazil, because only we are five-time champions.

"Without a doubt, foreigners are also very good coaches, but the Selecao is ours , the nation's, and it has to be run by someone who has Brazilian blood running through their veins.

"The most important thing is the players, we have to help them, encourage them and give them confidence... because we have a good generation on the way and a base with experience with the Brazil jersey.

"The World Cup is a short tournament and you win or lose in the small details, and this will always be the case for any team with any coach. This is just my humble opinion."
