Plumptre joins Nigerians who open Saudi goals account with hat-trick

Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre scored a hat-trick on her debut as Al Ittihad defeated Eastern Flames 3-0 in their opening game of the season.

Plumptre opened scoring for Al Ittihad on the half-hour mark.

The versatile defender volleyed home a minute after the hour mark to double her side’s lead.

Five minutes later, she completed her hat trick with a strike inside the box to seal the win.

The Nigerian joined Al Ittihad on a free transfer in the summer.

She was previously in the books of Leicester City.

Plumptre’s hat trick puts her amongst some Nigerian greats like Rashidi Yekini, Ahmed Musa, and Odion Ighalo, who have all scored hat tricks in Saudi Arabia.

She would look to continue with her impeccable form for her side.
