Osimhen breaks silence on TtkTok saga, pens love letter to Napoli

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen Sunday evening broke his silence on the TikTok videos and controversy, assuring coming to Napoli was ‘a wonderful decision’ and that he will not ‘allow anyone to come between us.’

He decided to step up after the Ambassador for Nigeria suggested a meeting with his Italian counterpart and there were some accusations that the jokey videos were not just insulting, but even racist.

“Coming to the City of Naples in 2020 was a wonderful decision for me. The People of Naples have shown me so much love and kindness, and I will not allow anyone to come between us.

“The passion of the People of Naples fuels my fire to always play with my heart and soul, and the love for the badge is unwavering as I wear it with pride.

“The accusation against the People of Naples are untrue. I have a lot of friends who are Napolitans and have become part of my family and everyday life.

“I appreciate Nigerians and everyone for lending their voices to support and reach out to me. Thanks so much, I’m forever grateful.

“Let’s continue to spread unity, respect, and understanding.

“FORZA NAPOLI SEMPRE.”

The striker had taken down all the images of himself in a Napoli jersey from his social media pages and celebrated scoring goals in muted terms over the last week.

It was all sparked by the official Napoli account posting a couple of videos on TikTok, above all one mocking his penalty miss against Bologna.

His agent Roberto Calenda released a statement insisting it was “unacceptable” and that he would be prepared to take legal action against the club.

A statement from Napoli stopped short of an apology, only assuring any offence was not intentional, while the social media manager stepped down today, only for it to be confirmed this decision was made weeks ago and was not in any way related to the Osimhen situation.
