NPFL Super 6: Enyimba picks first win as Insurance draw again

Enyimba of Aba picked up their first victory on matchday two of the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League, Super Six in Lagos. 

Enyimba defeated Lobi Stars by 1-0 courtesy of 
League top scorer Emeka Obioma 16th minute goal. 

The goal hunter extended his tally to sixteen as he now scored two goals in the playoff having registered 14 in the regular season.

Rivers United rallied back in the dying minutes to pick a point after a pulsating 2-2 draw with Remo Stars on Monday.

Nyima Nwagua gave the Pride of River the opening goal in 16 minutes before Adedayo Lekan scored twice in the 70th and 90+4 to the Sky Blue Boys ahead. 


Substitute Adefemi Lukman netted an equalizer in the 90+5 to ensure River United escape with a defeat to stay at the joint top on the log.


Bendel Insurance threw away a chance to pick their first win of the Super Six but it ended on another statement as Sunshine come back from a goal down to earn their first point of the playoff. 


Divine Nwachukwu gave Insurance the lead in the 7th minute before 
Ekrette netted the equalizer in the second half to bring the scores to parity.


All five teams still have the chance to make the top 3 as the top three finishers will represent the country at the 2023/2024 CAF Interclub competitions.

While Enyimba and Rivers United are leading on four points each with plus one goal difference.

Remo Stars and Bendel Insurance remain beaten as both sides have played two draws each to remain in third and fourth on the log with two points each and zero goal balance. 


Lobi Stars and Sunshine Stars kept their hope of making the top 3 alive by picking their first points of the competition with three matches to go.


Round three matches continue on Wednesday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Lagos.
