Luton striker Adebayo again savaged by racists online

Luton striker Elijah Adebayo was the victim of further online racist abuse after Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest.

The 25-year-old came off the bench with 72 minutes gone at the City Ground to score his second goal of the season in stoppage time as the Hatters hit back from 2-0 down to rescue a point.

However, for the second game running, Adebayo then received some disgusting online abuse just moments after the game, as had also happened when he missed a chance in the 1-0 defeat to Spurs before the international break.

Speaking ahead of the game, boss Rob Edwards condemned the abuse as both ‘deplorable’ and ‘disgraceful’ as the club have once more reported the latest offence.

A statement by the Premier League said: “The Premier League has received a report of online abuse directed toward Luton’s Elijah Adebayo.

"We have offered our full support to the Club and Elijah.

"We will work with all relevant authorities to ensure the individual responsible faces the strongest possible consequences.

“Racism has no place in our game or anywhere in society.

"If you see or hear any abuse, please report it.”
