Louis van Gaal wants to replace Germany 's coach as FA looks at other contenders.

Germany’s horrid run of results across the World Cup in Qatar, UEFA Nations League matches, and international friendlies has led to the sacking of manager Hansi Flick on Sunday.

With less than a year until Germany plays host to Euro 2024, things need to change for the better, and fast. As it stands, Die Mannschaft has only recorded four wins from their last 17 matches across all competitions; an abysmal run for the 2014 World Cup winners.

There have been a handful of names mentioned as far as who could replace Flick at the helm of the German national team, and Louis van Gaal’s name has been spouted. The former Bayern Munich and Dutch national team manager is currently out of a job but didn’t want to completely shut the door on possibly making a return to work by virtue of the German national team manager.

“Normally I won’t coach at a club anymore, but a promising country still has a chance to convince me,” the 72-year-old recently told Bild.

Another name linked to the job is Julian Nagelsmann.

Others include

Jurgen Klopp: While Klopp would be a great candidate, Liverpool FC probably would not let him leave, and he has shown no desire to coach the national team.

Zinedine Zidane: He could repair the damaged psyche of the German players, but he doesn’t speak German and probably prefers the France coaching gig.

Miroslav Klose: Lacks experience to take on a job this big — honestly he would be better off staying away from the madhouse.

Rudi Völler: He hasn’t been a manager since 2005. Maybe not the time to get back in the game.

Matthias Sammer: Same as Völler — he hasn’t been a manager in a long time. Probably not the best time to start again.

Oliver Glasner: Seems like a very plausible choice, though Frankfurt may not be as lenient as Bayern when the DFB comes knocking.

van Gaal: He’s available, he speaks German, and he is experienced on the international stage. The only issue is his health, but he’s the only candidate on this list who has commented on the possibility of replacing Flick.
