Loquacious Fury says Joshua is ‘he’s a bum in my opinion’

Talkative British boxer Tyson Fury has reacted to Anthony Joshua saying he is ‘carrying the heavyweight division’ – and it’s fair to say he has a different opinion.

After he knocked out Robert Helenius in August, Joshua took to the mic and said his back was sore from carrying boxing’s blue-ribbon division – likely a nod to him having two fights under his belt this year when the champions, Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, hadn’t fought.

Speaking to Daily Mail Boxing, Fury, who is still undefeated after 34 fights and is the current WBC and lineal champion, reacted to Joshua’s claims and said he is no longer interested in the all-British blockbuster.

“I don’t really care what he says, he’s a bum in my opinion. He's just a big bum dosser who’s been knocked out and had three losses. You can’t even compare him to me anymore, it’s not even a fight, I don’t even look forward to fighting him, it’s not a fight anymore.

I’m not interested. The bubble has been burst. It's not so much interesting for me to beat AJ anymore. He’s already been beaten, he’s been spanked by Usyk twice and knocked out by a fat man so it’s not of my interest to beat him.

I’m fighting a guy who’s in his prime who’s a champion, who’s bigger than him, stronger than him and who’s a bigger knockout puncher than him in Ngannou. Get to the back of the queue. The fight is off the cards, it’s gone, dead. The fight was off the cards when he got beat.”

Fury takes on former UFC champion Francis Ngannou next and, if he comes through that fight unscathed, will finally face Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed championship quickly after.

As for Joshua, he had looked set for a showdown with Deontay Wilder, but after a deal from Saudi Arabia’s Skill Challenge Entertainment was withdrawn that clash now looks unlikely to happen anytime soon.

Instead, he may be out in December or January.
