Agidingbi, Ikeja-based All Stars team, Liberty All Stars, is looking forward to having about 24 All Stars teams across Lagos State for their forthcoming Challenge Cup.

According to the president of the team, Ikenna Anene, the essence of the championship would be to network and relate with other teams within the state and also to have fun.

Speaking with our correspondent, Anene said the committee set up to organize the championship has been tasked with the duty of reaching out to all the available clubs.

"We have a committee working on getting everything sorted for the Challenge Cup, we are looking forward to over 24 All-Stars teams in Lagos, and we are hopeful of a good outing," he said.

"Part of our funding, we are expecting more sponsors, and I can assure those who would be sponsors that there is no type of investment they will put in that they will not get a return on it.

"We are expecting men of class and top caliber to be part of the championship, so whatever good or services you are bringing, be rest assured they will get over 100 percent return on investment."

Meanwhile, Liberty All-Stars were beaten 1-0 by Unique All-Stars in a friendly game played at the Agidingbi playing pitch.

Victor Asuzu scored the only goal of the game after he capitalized on a mistake in the defense of the Liberty Stars.

Reacting to the loss, the president, Anene said he was not disappointed with the result as it was just a normal game to bring the team together.

He added: "Most importantly we want to network, we want to keep fit, also to meet other all-stars teamss especially outside of the people we have known before, we want to know exactly what's happening ahead of the All Stars Challenge Cup, we are hoping to familiarize ourselves with others we are going to meet.

"I am not disappointed with the outcome of the friendly game, you win some and lose some, I am happy with the team, it was a good football, but I was not disappointed.

"The technical crew already noticed the mistakes and they are going to work on the lapses, I am sure we are going to get better before the Challenge Cup."
