NPFL: Insurance, Rivers top groups as IMC line up 8 matches for Sunday 

Even though there are four more games to be in the group on Sunday, no team can upstage Bendel Insurance due to their perfect start of the season, winning all four games played so far.

Irrespective of the outcome of matches on Sunday in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, Bendel Insurance, and Rivers United will top groups A and B of the NPFL due to their respective wins on Saturday. 


Bendel Insurance emerged as the winner in the top of a group of A clash between them and Remo Stars with the latter somersaulting to a 3-0 defeat in the hands of the Benin Arsenal on Saturday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.


The win helped them to remain unbeaten after four games, with 12 points after scoring eight goals and conceding one. 


Thus opening up a 3 points gap ahead of their closest rival, Remo Stars.

Defending champions Rivers United were 2-1 winners over hosts Dakkada FC at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo in a Group B match day 4 fixture.

The Wike boy's win ensured they are now with 10 points from three wins and a draw after playing four games. 


This opens up a four points unassailable gap ahead of their closest rivals in the group, thus no matter the results in the remaining four fixtures in the group to be played on Sunday, River United will remain top after matchday four. 


How it happened 


Imade Osarenkhoe scored the hosts’ first goal in the fifth minute, for his fourth goal so far in the competition, while Ismael Sarki extended their lead in the 26th minute. 

Substitute Austin Ogunye scored in the 78th minute to take the game beyond Remo Stars. 


On their part, Rivers United staged a comeback to snatch victdespitee of the hosts going in front through Isaac Georg16th-minutenute goal. 

But they drew level through Nyima Nwagua in the 35th minute, before Naibe Akpesiri gave them the lead just before the break.
