Iwobi's £20m move to Fulham is certain as Everton wants Cornet as a replacement

Everton have looked to out-of-favour West Ham winger Maxwel Cornet to replace Alex Iwobi, who is nearing a £20million move to Fulham.

The Cottagers are advancing in a deal for The 27-year-old who is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained during the Toffees 1-0 defeat to Wolves.

The former Arsenal winger started all 38 games for Everton last season as his transition to a central role helped the club stave off relegation and would be a huge loss for Sean Dyche's side.

As a result, Everton are considering a move for the 26-year-old Cornet, who joined the Hammers from Burnley, where he played under Dyche, last summer but has failed to nail down a starting spot.

Cornet has been in all three of David Moyes' match-day squads but has only seen one minute of action in their first outing against Bournemouth.

Dyche's side survived a scare in their second-round Carabao Cup win against League Two Doncaster which produced the side's first goals of the season.

In the league, Everton sits rock bottom having lost all three games to nil but the addition of striker Beto, who scored on debut, and the potential arrival of Cornet could provide the attacking threat missing thus far.

Everton have also strengthened on the flanks with new summer signings Arnaut Danjuma and Jack Harrison. Fulham manager Silva meanwhile has been calling for extra support in bolstering his squad after losing Aleksandar Mitrovic while Bayern Munich are trying to prise away £70m-rated midfielder Joao Palhinha.

They have agreed to a deal with Sevilla for Lucas Ocampos but are waiting for the player to give his approval while they have also added Swansea goalkeeper Steven Benda.
