World Indoor Championships: Brume wins long jump silver medal
Ese Brume

The days when Nigeria only made up the numbers at major international meets appear to be over with the country's athlete against all odds now constantly producing podium finishes when it mattered most.

A constant figure in that regard is Ese Brume who on Sunday in Belgrade added the World Indoors Long Jump Silver medal to her growing collection of medals.

Brume leapt to a massive PB of 6.85m (indoor) to win Nigeria's only medal at the #WorldIndoorChamps in Serbia.

Ivana Vuleta delivered for the home crowd to take the #WorldIndoorChamps long jump title in a world-leading 7.06m!

Nonetheless, the feat by Brume is massive as she is now only the third Nigerian athlete to win medals in all three global athletics championships including the Olympics.

Brume, who is just making a debut appearance at the World indoor championships has won medals at the World outdoor championships (bronze in 2019) and the Olympics (bronze in Tokyo).

She has now joined Glory Alozie and the late Sunday Bada as athletes who have won medals at the world athletics championships indoors and out as well as the Olympics.

It took Nigeria 14 years to break the medal drought at the World Indoors at it is gladening that Brume is once again the anointed one to break that jinx
