Manchester City's sensational comeback against Aston Villa will live for a lifetime in the memories of the club's supporters, yet Pep Guardiola was quick to reinforce the scale of their achievements, suggesting that he and his players are legends who will be remembered.

Despite failing in the Champions League yet again, Manchester City will end the campaign with the Premier League title after a nearly flawless campaign, continuing their dominance of English football since the arrival of the Catalan coach.

"We are legends, we will be remembered," Guardiola declared in his post-match interview.

"This group of players are absolutely eternal in this club.

"What we achieved, it is so difficult to do it,  Alex Ferguson with Manchester United has done it years ago, two or three times, now I realise again the magnitude of doing this."

Liverpool pushed the Sky Blues all the way yet again this term, finishing just behind the eventual champions, and Guardiola was quick to praise the efforts of the Merseyside club.

"I have never seen a team like Liverpool in my life, the magnitude of the achievement is related to the magnitude of our rival," he continued.

"Congratulations to Liverpool, they have made us better and better each week.

"Now it is time to celebrate, we're champions again."

Guardiola even saw the funny side of the turnaround his team achieved against Villa.

"I called Real Madrid and they gave me good advice!" Guardiola joked.

"No explanation in Madrid, no explanation today. It's momentum.

"Sometimes it's nice to live these kinds of situations. I had the feeling this will help us to be stronger next season."
