Ex-UFC star arrested for alleged murder of his girlfriend

Former UFC fighter Phil Baroni has reportedly been arrested for the alleged murder of his girlfriend.

Baroni , 46, is under investigation after his partner was found dead in their San Pancho hotel room on Sunday.

Baroni is claimed to have gotten into a dispute with his girlfriend over an alleged affair.

According to Mexican outlet Tribuna De La Bahia, the ex-MMA pro allegedly "beat his girlfriend to death" after she admitted to cheating on him.

They add that when questioned by cops, Baroni admitted that he "threw his girlfriend into the shower" - and that she slipped and hit her head - dying just minutes later after being helped back onto their bed.

The report also claims that Baroni was under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of his girlfriend's death in Mexico.

Cops claim that she was found naked on the bed showing "multiple signs of beatings" and "no vital signs".

Her body was found after Baroni approached police outside, telling them she was unresponsive.

After cops found her body, Baroni was subsequently arrested for homicide.

Police will now launch a full investigation, with the fighter being held in custody in Valle de Banderas.

Baroni fought ten times in the UFC across two spells with the promotion between 2001 and 2011.

He also entered the cage for Japanese promotion Pride, as well as One Championship, Bellator and Strikforce.

His most recent bout was in 2019, when he lost to Sai Wang in Rebel FC.
