EPL: Chelsea, Forest clash presents Awoniyi opportunity to equal Vardy’s record and break Adebayor, Salah’s record.

Apart from joining his Nottingham Forest teammates to fight for the three points at stakes against Chelsea on Saturday, Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has a personal target in Saturday's clash in West London, to surpass the record of   Emmanuel Adebayor and Mohammed Salah he equaled in Forest lost to Manchester United.

In Forest 3-2 lost at Old Trafford to Manchester United, Awoniyi scored the first goal of the match to equal the record of Adebayor and Salah of scoring in seven consecutive EPL matches.

As Chelsea hosts Forest Awoniyi will be aiming to become the first player to African player to score in eight successive English Premier League games and equal  Jamie Vardy of scoring in eight consecutive matches between October and December 2019.

He scored four consecutive goals in the last four matches of the 2022/23 season. Awoniyi continued from where he stopped last season by scoring in the first three matches of the 2023/24 season.

Awoniyi is now the first Nigerian to score in seven consecutive Premier League games.

The striker is now the third African player to score in seven consecutive games.

Awoniyi has netted nine of Forest’s last 13 Premier League goals, including a double at Stamford Bridge in May.
