EPL: Brentford manager praises Onyeka as his first goal in England ends club winless streak

Super Eagles star Frank Onyeka came off the bench to seal victory for Brentford, who defeated Sheffield United 2-0 at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday.

It was the midfielder’s first-ever Premier League goal after three seasons for Thomas Frank’s side.

The win was Brentford’s first in their last nine Premier League games.

The Bees took the lead through Ollie Arblaster’s 63rd-minute own goal.

Onyeka took the place of Mathias Jensen on the dot of the 90th minute.

The Nigeria international then fired home the winning goal three minutes later.

Brentford moved to 14th position on the table following the win.

Speaking to the media after the game Frank said

“I’m so happy for Frank, he deserved that. He came on and was a part of deciding the win, I’m so happy, It’s been a long time coming,” the Danish tactician told the club’s official website after Brentford’s win.

Brentford travel to Luton Town next week in what could prove to be a pivotal fixture for both teams, but Thomas wants to take it one step at a time.

“Luton is the next team-up, we need to focus on what we need to do. We’ll enjoy a good glass of red tonight, and then it’s back to work,” the 50-year-old added.

Following Brentford’s win over Sheffield United, they are now 14th on the English Premier League table, two points above Crystal Palace who have two games in hand.
