Eguavoen: We will treat every game like a final
Eguavoen-Super Eagles
Super Eagles interim manager, Austin Eguavoen has vowed to approach every match like a final despite coming out on a winning note against Pharaohs of Egypt on Tuesday.
Still basking in the euphoria of Nigeria's 1-0 win over The Pharaohs of Egypt on Tuesday, Eguavoen warned that every team in the competition deserves some respect and that it would be wrong to underrated opponents like Sudan and Guinea Bissau.
Speaking after the match, Eguavoen warned that playing Guinea Bissau and Sudan won't be a stroll in the park for Super Eagles who had a brilliant game against seven-times African champions Egypt.
" We will approach every game like the finals and play each game as they come. There are no minnows in African football anymore, and every team that qualified for the competition deserves some respect. It is wrong to say one team is not strong," he said.
A clinical strike by Leicester City forward, Kelechi Iheanacho in the 30th minute of the game was all Super Eagles needed to silence The Pharaohs of Egypt in Garoua On Tuesday. The Egyptians were kept on the back foot for most of the match as Super Eagles dominated the game from the blast of the whistle.
Nigeria will face Sudan on Saturday at the same venue while Egypt face a daunting task against another West African opponent, Guinea Bissau.
