PRE AFCON Friendly: Algeria record massive win over Ghana

The Desert Foxes of Algeria have served a glimpse of what to expect from them at the African Cup of Nations as they look to defend the title they won in 2019 in Egypt.

The defending champions in their last pre AFCON friendly on Wednesday thrashed the Black Stars of Ghana 3-0  at the Education City Stadium in Qatar.

Adam Ounas gave the Algerians a first-half lead before an own goal from Jonathan Mensah and Islam Slimani's cool finish ensured the African and Arab champions head to AFCON with a confidence-boosting victory.

Ghana were poor right at the start of the game as Algeria dominated and controlled the match.

The heavy defeat has seen Ghana's Black Stars being handed a reality check and would have to dig deep if they are to make any impact in Cameroon.

As for Algeria, they are looking good to become just the fourth nation to pick up successive Africa Cup of Nations titles,

Algeria head into Cameroon, where the highly-anticipated continental tournament is scheduled to take place from January 9 through to February 6.
