Golf legend Tiger Woods' status for the 2022 Masters remains unclear ahead of next week's tournament. Neither Woods nor the Masters have publically addressed his possible participation.

The PGA Tour released a commitment list for the Masters on Twitter on Friday and later deleted it.

Golf reporter Doug Ferguson pointed out the Masters has no such commitment, and the Tour has no involvement with the Masters except to count it as an official event.

Woods' last public appearance was at the 2022 Genesis Invitational where he said he didn’t know when he was going to play again. He said he wouldn't return to the PGA Tour on a full-time basis, but he hoped to participate in tournaments again.

Speculation about Woods returning increased when Golf Channel reported that he would "exhaust every effort to play The Masters." Woods played a practice round at the Augusta National on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.

The five-time Masters champion is recovering from a single-car crash in 2021.

Woods had open fractures in the upper and lower portions of his right leg, and additional injuries to his foot and ankle which required screws and pins to be inserted.

In April, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said Woods' crash was caused by driving at an unsafe speed and that he was going 75 miles per hour when his vehicle hit a tree.

Woods last played at the PNC Championship's father-son event with his son, Charlie, in December 2020. Prior to that, he made his last official tournament appearance at the 2020 Masters in November.

The 2022 Masters tournament runs from April 7-10.
