Maguire-Pulisic swap

Chelsea fans have been left unimpressed by the prospect of bringing Harry Maguire to Stamford Bridge as Manchester United supporters urged the club to cash in on their under-fire defender.

Sportsmail exclusively reported on Friday that Chelsea had inquired about the England defender and suggested he could be part of a swap deal that would see Christian Pulisic heading to Old Trafford.

There have been questions raised over Maguire's future at United after his performances in the club's opening two Premier League games, with the Red Devils sitting bottom of the table.

'Sack Tuchel right now and I will never support todd Boehly if this ever happens, tweeted one Chelsea fan, while another questioned 'why on earth would we do that to ourselves'.

Some Blues fans stood up for Maguire, however. One said: 'He’s not even bad. He’s actually really good there’s just a disgusting agenda against him.'

Another added: 'He's a good player I just don't think we need him.'

United fans seemed much more cheerful at the possibility of losing their captain.

One fan said: 'Buy him! Take him for free! Anything to get him out of Old Trafford!'

Others called for a 'no returns' policy on the centre-back and suggested they 'give then [Scott] McTominay as an add-on'.

Even the Red Devils fans who rated Maguire highly seemed nonplussed about the prospect of him leaving, with one commenting: 'Chelsea want Harry Maguire? Not surprised.

'Always knew he's a top defender just wasting at Man Utd. Think Chelsea should move quickly before Barcelona hijack the deal.'

Manchester United will be looking to get their first points of the Premier League campaign when they take on Liverpool on Monday.

Maguire's place for the game is understood to be under threat from Raphael Varane.
