Budapest 2023: Team Nigeria shifts attention to the relays after Amusan and Brume failed to make the podium

After Team Nigeria hurdler Tobi Amusan and long jumper, Ese Brume failed to make the podium in the ongoing Budapest 2023 World Athletics Championships, attention now shifts to men and women 100x4 m relays for the hope of any medal irrespective of colour.

Before now, assembling four boys or girls that will pass the baton around has been seamless for Team Nigeria but in the last few editions of the Olympic Games and the World Athletics Championships, it has become a herculean task.

Millions of Nigerians will be praying that our sprinters will get it right Friday evening as Our Boys and Girls compete in the heats of the 4x100m relay.

Our Boys are in heat 2 of the semi-final and they have to finish in the top three to qualify for the final or be one of the two fastest losers, the race is slated for 7.32 pm Friday evening. Their opponents are South Africa, Brazil, Italy, Switzerland, Great Britain & NI, Poland, and Canada

Our Girls are running at 8.00 pm, their opponents are Hungary, Brazil, Netherlands, Italy, Poland, United States, Côte d’Ivoire, and Cuba like Our Boys they have to finish in the top three to qualify for the final or be one of the two fastest losers.
