Budapest 2023: Amusan qualifies for Wednesday semi-final in 12.48 sec

Team Nigeria hurdler Tobi Amusan Tuesday evening began her quest to defend the world title she won last year by qualifying for the semi-final slated for Wednesday evening.

Running in heat 5 of five heats, Amusan who is the world record holder in the event ran 12.48 seconds to win her heat.

But the star of the Tuesday evening was American Kendra Harrison who ran a world-leading time of 12.24 seconds to also qualify for the semi-final

Other qualifiers are Bahamas Devynne Charlton  12.44, with a new national record for the Caribbean country, Olympics champions Jasmine Camacho-Quinn 12.50, Jamaica duo of Megan Tapper at 12.51, and Danielle Williams who ran a season’s best of 12.51, 34 years old Nia Ali also qualify to win her heat in 12.55. Ali is a former world champion.

Ackera Nugget from Jamaica's time of 12.60 was also good enough to qualify her for the Wednesday evening semi-final.

Another American that qualified for the semi-final is Masai Russell who did in 12.60.

Polish Pia Skrzyszowka 12.65, Netherlands Nadine Visser 12.68, Ireland Sarah Lavin 12.69, Switzerland Ditaji Kambundji 12.71,

France Cyréna Samba-Mayela 12.71, South African Marione Fourie 12.71, Hungary Luca Kozak 12.71(a new season’s best)

Australia Michelle Jenneke 12.71, Britain Cindy Sember 12.83 (a new season’s best) Denmark Mette Graversgaard 12.87, Canada Michelle Harrison 12.88, Cyprus Natalia Christofi 12.90

Austria Celeste Mucci 12.90, Finland Reetta Hurske 12.92, and

Netherland Maayke Tjin-a-Lim completed the list of athletes that will compete in the Wednesday evening semi-final.
