Brazil defender wants Osimhen to sign for Arsenal

Osimhen's price tag may rule out a potential move to North London this summer

Brazil defender wants Osimhen to sign for Arsenal

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has been impressed by Super Eagle and Napoli star Victor Osimhen this season as the Brazilian sent the striker a message on social media.

Gabriel has been ever-present in the Gunners' defence this season as they continue their Premier League title race with Manchester City.

Arsenal's attack has been reinforced in the past two transfer windows following the arrivals of Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard.

The Brazil international completed a £45million move to the Emirates Stadium last summer, whilst Trossard arrived in January after securing a £27million switch to the north Londoners from Brighton.

Despite his brilliant form for Arsenal this season, Gabriel failed to be selected in Brazil's latest squad for the upcoming international break - meaning he will stay with Mikel Arteta's squad ahead of their final 10 games of the season.

The Gunners are now eight points clear at the top of the table as they hunt their first Premier League title since 2004.

Osimhen has attracted plenty of interest from top clubs across Europe after scoring 25 goals in just 29 appearances so far this season.

The Nigeria striker has been linked with moves to Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, with Napoli expected to demand a fee in excess of £100million for his services.

The 24-year-old forward took to Instagram to celebrate yet another Napoli win at the weekend, and posted: “Another win, another brace, focus now on the game against Guinea Bissau. God is the greatest.”

Arsenal defender Gabriel thought Osimhen was on fire, as he took his tally of goals in the Serie A to 21 for the season. The Brazilian commented under the Nigeria international's post: "*fire emoji*."

The Gunners already have one of the most clinical attacks in Europe with Arteta having Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Jesus, Trossard and Eddie Nketiah all to call upon.

Folarin Balogun is also set to return to the Emirates Stadium this summer after enjoying a very successful loan spell in Ligue 1 with Reims, meaning Arsenal's options at striker are as strong as any other club.

Osimhen's price tag may rule out a potential move to north London this summer, but his addition to the squad would certainly be welcomed by Gabriel, who has been seriously impressed with the 24-year-old.

The Brazilian could face the Nigerian star in next season's Champions League campaign, with both Arsenal and Napoli set to qualify for the competition given their respective league performances this term as they look to win their respective domestic titles.
