Ajax Amsterdam coach, Alfred Schreuder manager has allayed fears about the injury of Nigeria's Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey.

The utility defender was in action on Saturday in the Dutch league against Heerenveen and played a key role in the 5-0 victory.

He was replaced in the 84th minute after he sustained an injury and Ajax completed the game with a man down.

As they continue their preparations for this week's UEFA Champions League game against English Premier League giant Liverpool, the coach said Bassey should be ready for the game.

" His ( Bassey) injury is not that bad and he is not a problem for Tuesday," he said.

Ajax defeated Rangers of Scotland 4-0 on Matchday one and will be willing to continue the impressive run when they meet Liverpool at Anfield on Matchday 2.

Also, Nigeria's trio of Moses Simon, Terem Moffi and Innocent Bonnke were in action on Sunday in the French Ligue One match between FC Lorient and FC Nantes.

It was Moffi and Bonnke that laughed last as they defeated Simon's Nantes 3-2.

Ganado opened the scoring for Nantes in the13th minute before Quattarra levelled up the game six minutes later.

Bonnke was subbed off in the 57th minute before Cathline put Lorient ahead in the 60th, Kone made it 3-1 for the host in the 74th minute after he replaced Moffi.

Simon reduced the deficit in the 85th minute and made the scoreline more respectable for Nantes.

Elsewhere, It was a mixed feeling for Nigeria's Super Eagles and Ponferredina midfielder Kelechi Nwakali on Sunday as his goal counted for little in their 1-2 home loss to Real Zaragoza.

The skilful midfielder joined the Spanish second division side this summer after his mutual contract termination with SD Huesca.

Nwakali has been a regular with the club since his arrival and he was able to score his first goal for the club on Sunday.

Guiliano put the away side ahead in the 14th minute but Nwakali hit a stunning strike in the 44th minute and sent the home crowd into unending excitement.

Real Zaragoza dominated the second half of the game and their efforts were well rewarded as Guiliano completed his brace in the 51st minute.

The home side fought hard to come back into the game but Zaragoza midfielders did enough to cut the supplies from the Nigeria international who was busy dictating the pace of the game in the midfield.
