Australian Open: Coco Gauff and Pegula to play doubles

America’s tennis star duo of Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula are set to be reunited in the Australian Open 2024. The first Grand Slam of the new season is set to start in less than a month and players from all over the world will participate and battle it out for the ultimate glory.

It was rumoured that Gauff and Pegula were not going to take part in the competition in the doubles category, to focus on the singles category where both would be in the running to fight for the ultimate prize.

However, the duo have appeared in the final list of pairs ready to compete in the mega-event. The two appeared previously in the US Open where they were eventually knocked out after losing in the quarterfinal to Taiwan’s Hsieh Su-wei and Wang Xinyu with a score of 7-6, 3-6, 6-4.

Both Gauff and Pegula are coming into the season on the back of some impressive performances. The 19-year-old had a fabulous season where she ended up winning her maiden Grand Slam. Gauff defeated the current world number two Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka in the final with a score of 2–6, 6–3, 6–2 to lift the US Open title. On the other hand, Pegula played in two Grand Slam quarterfinals and also finished as the runner-up in the WTA Finals in Cancun, Mexico.
