Red Bull Salzburg are braced for Premier League interest in Nigeria-born Noah Okafor as they prepare for a summer battle to retain their £ 25 million-rated forward.

Premier League leaders Arsenal are among the clubs who have assessed the credentials of Swiss star Okafor ahead of a summer when they plan to increase their attacking options.

The 22-year-old has also been looked at by Tottenham and West Ham.

Following a breakout season last term in which he scored 14 times in 34 appearances for Austrian side Salzburg, Okafor further enhanced his reputation with 10 goals in 20 games ahead of the World Cup.

Among his tally were Champions League goals against Chelsea and AC Milan in a hot streak of six goals in six games.

Okafor is only under contract until next summer, reducing Salzburg’s chances of commanding a fee that truly reflects his ability and potential.

However further interest in Italy from the likes of Milan duo Inter and AC will increase their hopes of driving the price as high as possible.

Okafor is primarily a central striker but has also been used on both flanks.

Salzburg signed him from Basel in 2019 and have a growing reputation for providing a platform for future stars to shine including the likes of Erling Haaland and Sadio Mane.
