Again, Turkish club sacks Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa

For the second time in his career, Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has been sacked by a club in the Turkish Super Lig.

On Wednesday, Turkish Super Lig club Sivasspor announced they have mutually terminated the contract of Super Eagles captain Musa.

The 31-year-old Musa did not rejoin the team after the delayed 2023 Afcon after not making the first team for a long time.

Musa was a non-playing captain at the Afcon.

His contract was due to end in June.

He joined Sivasspor in the 2022/2023 season from another Turkish club Fatih Karagumruk, where he had also struggled for game time.

He scored a goal in two seasons during which time he made the starting XI eight times.

This is not the first time that Musa will be sacked in the Turkish Lig. It will be recalled that Turkish club Fatih Karagumruk terminated the contract of Musa before now.

Unlike his contract with Sivasspor which will end in June, Musa's contract was terminated by Faith Karagumruk a year before his contract was to end.

The club announced the termination of the contract on their various social media platforms.

Speculations were rife then that his future in the club could be in doubt in the close season after he failed to report in time for pre-season training.

However, sources close to the player said then that he would drag the Istanbul club before FIFA.

He struggled to impress them at the modest club based in the Turkish captain.

Before he was sacked, he made only three appearances for the entire season and failed to score a goal.

Apart from Turkish clubs, Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr also released the forward before the end of his contract and that forced him to rejoin his former club Kano Pillars before he eventually headed to Turkey.
