Again Conte snubs Napoli as Tudor meets the club president

Again Conte snubs Napoli as Tudor meets the club president

With Rudi Garcia's job on the line former Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has again snubbed an opportunity to coach Napoli.

Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullá claims that Napoli made one final attempt to convince Conte to take the job.

It failed, as Conte has made it clear he wants to stay out for the rest of the season following the end of his Tottenham Hotspur experience, so he can spend more time with his family.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis also met with Igor Tudor on Monday to offer him the job of Rudi Garcia.

The decision to sack Garcia was made after Sunday’s disastrous 1-0 home defeat to Empoli, who were in penultimate place going into the weekend.

While other contenders were mentioned, including Walter Mazzarri and Fabio Cannavaro, Tudor quickly emerged as the favourite for the job.

Multiple sources report that President De Laurentiis met with the Croatian at his FilmAuro offices in Rome.

Tudor’s agent was not present, suggesting this is the early stage of the negotiations before getting down to the details of a contract.

Reports from Sky Sport Italia indicate that Napoli have offered Igor Tudor an initial contract until the end of the 2023-24 season.

Sky reveal that Tudor would have ideally wanted a longer contract but is willing to accept the terms set out by De Laurentiis and his team. A final decision is still being discussed.

Official confirmation of current coach Rudi Garcia’s dismissal is still awaited, however, reports on Sunday evening suggest that a decision to part ways was reached shortly after the 1-0 home loss to Empoli.

Newspaper reports confirmed that Garcia has since left Napoli and has returned to his native France.

It is believed that Garcia will not resign from his position, meaning that Napoli will have to sack him and negotiate a compensation package.
